Brittany Filips, Program Director
Brittany Filips is a San Diego local born and raised in Encinitas. She is yoga alliance certified in a Hatha Vinyasa 500 hour training with teachers Amanda Kriebel and Stacy McCarthy. She has been under 100 hour mentorship training with Kristina Kuzmich and yoga therapist , Alana Barrey. She has passion for the outdoors she has been an avid rock climber for 3 years and a surfer for most of her life. These two passions are what led her to love yoga, and of melding nature with the body. She enjoys teaching classes beyond a studio setting such as the Joshua Tree Music Festival. She plans on sharing her knowledge of yoga with those who are seeking a peaceful addition to their everyday life and spreading her light at other festivals.
MEAGAN DID YOGA HERE AND THERE THROUGHOUT HER LIFE, BUT IT WASN'T UNTIL HER LAST YEAR OF COLLEGE THAT SHE FOUND A DEDICATED PRACTICE. AFTER GRADUATING FROM FILM SCHOOL AND TAKING ON A GRUELING AND EMOTIONALLY DRAINING JOB IN HOLLYWOOD, YOGA BECAME HER RELEASE. MEAGAN FOUND DEEP EFFECTS NOT ONLY IN HER BODY BUT MOSTLY HER MIND AND SHE WANTED TO DIG DEEPER INTO THE PRACTICE. EVENTUALLY, YOGA GAVE MEAGAN THE COURAGE TO QUIT HER STABLE JOB WITH THE GOAL OF TRAVELING THE WORLD WITH JUST A BACKPACK. SHE WENT TO NICARAGUA SOON AFTER LEAVING HOLLYWOOD TO COMPLETE HER 200 HOUR VINYASA YOGA TEACHER TRAINING WITH BODHI YOGA ACADEMY. SINCE THEN SHE HASN'T LOOKED BACK AND HAS ALSO NEVER BEEN HAPPIER! MEAGAN INSPIRES HER STUDENTS FOLLOW THEIR BLISS AND ALWAYS CHOOSE LOVE OVER FEAR. HER YOGA PRACTICE IS ROOTED IN THE ASHTANGA LINEAGE OF YOGA BUT KEEPS THE ENERGY PLAYFUL, CURIOUS AND OFTEN UPSIDE-DOWN. SHE NEVER TAKES HERSELF TOO SERIOUSLY AND ENCOURAGES HER STUDENTS TO LAUGH AT THEMSELVES TOO. SHE WILL PUSH YOU TO YOUR EDGE AND THEN BRING YOU BACK TO CENTER GENTLY.
Jen specializes in working with yoginis who are new to to the mat as well as experienced yogis looking to deepen their asanas practice by exploring the subtleties of alignment. She weaves her classes by combining dynamic movements that encourage openness and flexibility with power building asanas held to cultivate strength and confidence. Jen leads her students through a balanced practice which is playful, challenging, and supplemented with thoughtful adjustments. She encourages her students to honor their body and explore their edge within the safe space of the mat.
Kitty is a Soul Whisperer, highly credentialed Yogini and cancer survivor. An AromaReiki Master, motivational speaker and bi-coastal yoga teacher trainer based in Carlsbad, CA, Kitty specializes in therapeutic yoga & meditation for managing stress, insomnia, cancer and chronic disease. An ex-Fashion Exec, after many "mental moments" on and off the mat, yoga continues to transform her from a Type A Personality to a "Recovering" Type A Personality. Inspired by witnessing not only her own, but also so many client's life transformations from practicing, Kitty opened Sanctuary Z - a Sleep, Stretch & Stress Management space and North San Diego's premiere place to meditate in 2016. Gina started taking yoga classes at her local gym when she was just out of high school. She committed to taking just two classes per week for a month, and after that month, she never looked back. She continues to practice yoga regularly, and it gives her the strength and motivation to pursue her dreams and live a holistic and happy life. She completed her 200 hr. Power Yoga Teacher Training at Core Power Yoga in Hollywood in 2015, while working in the fashion industry. Her love for learning about and teaching yoga showed her that her true passion is to help others learn to tune into the mind-body connection and find healing through movement. She moved to Carlsbad soon after her training ended, and studies Kinesiology with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist. Her yoga classes focus on tuning into the breath, creating balance and alignment in the body, and meditating on concepts from yoga philosophy.
Alisha is a San Diego native, yogi and artist. She received her Yoga Teaching Certification from Soleil Yoga in Cardiff, CA. While studying under Andrew Rivin & Andrea Werner she learned about asanas (yoga postures), anatomy & physiology, pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, self inquiry, philosophies, and more. Her background in dance flows easily into loving movement expression and exploration via yoga. The practice has given her the tools to slow down from the fast paced world. Alisha teaches alignment based hatha classes that are playful, yet grounding and allow room for internal reflection. Whether you’re new to yoga, or a well practiced yogi Alisha’s dynamic flow will keep you engaged and having fun.
Traci (RYT-200 / CYT-500) began her Yoga journey in 2009 after a lifelong career in dance had left her body injured and misinformed. She sought out yoga for its physical healing benefits, and soon discovered a depth of movement and body connectivity that dance had never before offered. After inviting a daily asana and meditation practice into her life, Traci was amazed by the efficiency and productivity her body was capable of, and so began dancing again with tenacity. Her yoga asana classes are guided by the idea that the body is a self-healing tool, and that movement is a medium for more deeply understanding that tool. She brings central emphasis on breath, fluidity and ease of movement through challenging postures, and hopes to guide students into heightened physical awareness that keeps them connected off the mat.
Summer has been teaching yoga in Southern California since 2010. After being introduced to yoga, Summer found that it brought balance and energy into her life. She loves to share the gift of yoga with anyone that crosses her path and believes that practicing yoga can help heal anyone’s emotional and physical imbalances. Currently studying Biochemistry at UC San Diego, Summer is grateful to still be able to have time to practice and teach yoga at local studios and special events. With a passion for surfing, running, and climbing, Summer feels that stretching is a perfect complement to any lifestyle. To her, yoga transpires past the physical practice into everyday life. She believes life is about connecting... to your breath, to yourself, and to others.
